The Orchard Room Best Informal Dining Venue Suffolk Food and Drink Awards 2008 We made the final three in the competition because so many of our customers voted for us—thank you! The judges then visited and we were declared the winners in October 2008. The judges comments were: Really different, a purpose built “conservatory style” building amongst growing plants and fruit/vegetables in a rural location. Open kitchen staffed by smiling ladies. Great service, delicious food, beautifully garnished with unusual flora picked from the gardens. Almost everything is sourced from just outside the door in the spacious smallholding, tended by the owner and a small team, whilst his wife runs the restaurant with her happy band. Bright, cheerful but very relaxed atmosphere, wonderful tearoom ambience with attitude! We couldn’t fault the food which ranged from morning coffee stuff, through a really good choice of light lunch things, into the afternoon tea range, including some really good moist cakes.’ |

’Winter Soups’ was our first ever cookery class. The participants said they had picked up many useful hints and tips as well as having a wonderfully relaxing day. We are running 12 different cookery days in 2010. If you are interested in our cookery days or any of the other courses we run at the nursery please see the Harveys Garden Plants website for details. |
